First page contains a an article on Lincoln’s progress to the White House for his inauguration and a short notice of Buchanan returning to Wheatland. James Buchanan Family Papers, Part 8, the Papers of Others (Not Part of the Family), Series 4 contains sections and pages of newspapers from Lancaster, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., New York, and White Pigeon, Michigan. The articles pertain to Lincoln's progress through Lancaster and Harrisburg on his way to Washington D.C. for his inauguration, obituaries for Abraham Breneman, and the state of the Democratic party in Philadelphia in 1878, as well as classified ads and wedding announcements. One newspaper has James Buchanan's State of the Union speech reprinted on the first two pages.
