Henry to Louisa Anderson describing his departure from Staten Island to the Battery of Manhattan to board a ship to Bermuda; describes in detail the rough voyage through the Gulf Stream; describes his first view of the island and then a lengthy description of the horticulture and other aspects of the island; among his acquaintances along the way were Frank, who saw him off; a German gentleman who almost missed the boat; Mr. Murphy; the Outerbridges; Mr. O and his uncle Harvey, Ellie, Miss Lollie O., Mrs. Butterfield, Mrs. Bullafus and Miss Lotte and Mrs. Beille; and Aunt Sidney.
