Letter from James Buchanan to Christian Bachman, Esq. asking that an outstanding judgment against Col. Stambaugh be revived. Buchanan wants his name left out of any resolution if it would raise opposition. He wants to protect General Cass. Comments disapprovingly of General Taylor’s prospects for carrying the state. The James Buchanan Family Papers were collected by the James Buchanan Foundation for the Preservation of Wheatland. This collection was relocated from the Wheatland mansion to the LancasterHistory archives in the Spring of 2009.
