Illustrative matter includes numerous steel engravings within text, twelve steel engraved plates, and eight plates with color maps.

Three chromolithographed plates (2 double-sided) for keeping family records, bound in between Apocrypha and the New Testament.

Rebound by Pleasant View Book Bindery in 1997 preserving partial clasp and original leather covers but no title on new spine.
Publisher's binding: Dark brown morocco over wooden boards with raised beveled panels forming spandrels and two small fields between them on the sides. Beveled title panel in center of cover. Embossed and gilt-stamped floral, foliate, and arabesque ornamentation. Back cover the same as front cover. Spine decorated with five panels gilt-stamped with elaborate foliate ornamentation and one with gilt-stamped title, separated by raised bands, and enclosed at head and tail within gilt-stamped decorative borders. Ornamental gilt-stamped border on turn-ins. Endsheets lined with white paper printed in moire̹ silk pattern. All edges gilt.

Admin/Biographical History
The Mayor's Court was established at the incorporation of the City of Lancaster in 1818, and was composed of the mayor, recorder, and aldermen with powers and jurisdiction analogous to the Court of Quarter Sessions of the Peace, Oyer and Terminer, and Jail Delivery. It was abolished on 6 February 1849.
