David Caldwell, 1725-1824 : Pennsylvania Colonial pioneer, Princeton scholar, North Carolina educator and physician, Presbyterian minister, Revolutionary War patriot, and a founding father of the Bill of Rights
This record group contains canceled orders that were issued by the county commissioners for payment to be made by the county treasurer. The orders show date, order number, amount, name of payee, purpose, and signatures of the county commissioners. In the case of "poor children," teachers were reimbursed by the county for tuition and/or the supplies purchased for students whose parents were unable to pay. Orders include: Poor Children, Almshouse, Bridges, Coroners' Inquests, Prisons, Roads, Court House, and Tax Exonerations.
Payment for handling "vagrants, disorderly and suspicious persons, arrested, brought examined and disposed of from October 5, 1826 until July 20th 1827.

Transcription of the court papers filed in the action by the stockholders of the Marietta & Susquehanna Trading Company against a the appointed Trustees of the Company, Jacob Grosh, Jacob Gish (Gisch), Jacob Mishey (Misher), James Patterson, Jr. and William Child, entrusted to resolve the company, however none of the debts were ever collected. Transcription includes a background, complaint, answer and exhibits. Transcribed by the Clerk of the Circuit Court, David Caldwell.
