Letter from James Buchanan to Eskridge Lane expressing happiness over the amount it cost to give Harriet a place in English society in spite of Mr. Reynolds misinterpreting the amount; poking fun at James Lane for getting total control of his uncle’s estate; showing relief that Mr. Dallas and entourage of women will arrive soon and that he can return home in April;and expressing great happiness over the change of attitude toward the United States, making him a “lion.” London
