Description
This collection contains political cartoons drawn by J. Allen Schaadt. The series of cartoons depict local politicians and judges involved with the illegal fees imposed at the Lancaster County courts circa 1891. Schaadt's work appeared in Lancaster's Morning News and News-Journal in October and early November of 1891.
Admin/Biographical History
J. Allen Schaadt was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1862 and a graduate of Muhlenberg College in 1881. He was the brother of James Schaadt, mayor of Allentown, and the son of Capt. David and Caroline S. Schaadt. He died in Philadelphia on 12 May 1903.
