Description
Brooklyn, NY: Veteran Sal Maglie follows through on a pitch during the World Series opener against the Yankees here OCto. 3rd. Maglie, 39-year-old "rejuvenile" stopped the Yanks, 6 - 3. Sal won 13 games, one a no-hitter, since he was obtained from Cleveland early in the season.
Provenance
Photographs from MG-63, the Johnny Hauck Collection. Hauck was a local boxing historian and brother of noted local boxer Leo Hauck. The Haucks grew up in Lancaster's Cabbage Hill neighborhood and were known as all-around athletes.
