Baker concerning the purchase of the Pennsylvanian [newspaper] for $10,000, of which $1,000 was received from Mr. Swarr the preceding day, with $2,500 pledged to be paid in six months from undetermined sources; and noting that Sanderson was pleased with Packer’s message about the attack on federal officeholders.
