Genealogy and ephemera from the Welsh family Bible. A portion of The Holy Bible, Kimber & Sharpless' Edition. published in Philadelphia in 1850 by Jesper Harding. The section in this collection consists of 4 and 2/3 chapters of Maccabees I and 15 chapters of Maccabees II, as well as the records of births, deaths, and marriages of family members, beginning with Annie Eunice Young Welsh's parents and running through the death of Annie's daughter-in-law, Emilie Benson Welsh, in 1938. Tucked in the back cover is a notice of a memorial service for Lillian Welsh. Note: The date of the Bible, and the family records it contains suggest that this was acquired by Thomas Welsh and Annie Young when they were married on October 24, 1850.

Most of the New and Old Testaments are missing. Binding was removed, the covers are loose, and the pages are held together loosely by binding tape.

Letter from Thomas Welsh to Lillie Welsh (daughter)
Description
Handwritten letter from Thomas Welsh to his daughter, Lillie Welsh. From Otter Island, South Carolina. Letter thanks Lillie for writing, for telling him about her party, and chides her for running away "one day." Letter also describes his "little house," the area around the camp, and a visit from Amos Mullen. Encourages all to be good.

Description
Handwritten letter from Thomas Welsh to his daughter, Effie. From Camp. Letter discusses the exchange of correspondence between various family members and encourages Effie to write more often. Answers Effie's request for a photograph for Miss Jones' Album. Letter describes the weather and reports that all are doing well in camp. Sends love and kisses to all, including Effie's "little friends and playmates. Note: Envelope and the letter are not matched; the envelope goes with an earlier letter from Port Royal, May 19, 1862.

The Welsh Family Scrapbook contains articles from a variety of newspapers, about a variety of subjects. Most are undated, but appear to date from before 1850 through approximately 1890. Many of the articles pertain to Thomas Welsh and his family, but otherwise no overall theme, pattern or thread is discernible. The articles are pasted in a very loose chronological order, with many exceptions. The underlying book itself is David Carpenter's Execution Docket record from 1822-1823, and many pages have not been pasted over. Note: Contains articles and records related to James Buchanan.
