Straight flute, hand-style, finishing reamer. Long tapering steel rod with heavy fluting comes to a point. There are five long, deep, straight flutes. Other end is a larger round of steel with shaped terminus. The end is flattened and is stepped down toward end.
Marked on largest section is "LATROBE / HIGH SPEED/ 23/32"

Wooden etui or case sewing tools. Hinged case of rosewood? has a trapezoid shape and opens to reveal a thimble, scissors, a bodkin and a needle case, all made of silver, likely plated. Each tool fits in a recessed shape of the tool itself. Wooden case has an inlaid rose on the top.

Wood is has surface wear and cracking, especially the top side with the rose inlay.
Direction Sheet for "A PA Dutch Parrot in Crewel." Tri-fold printed directions including historical notes. Drawings and directions for stitches and illustrations. Project sales benefit " the Penn-Dutch region of the Pa. Federation of Junior Historians.
(Probably part of a kit including crewel yarns & fabric with design. Brochure says "Hoop and needle not included.")

Pa Dutch parrot stitched in colorful crewel yarns. Tightly-woven off-white cotton fabric. Dried glue band (1/4 to 1/2 inch wide) around edges to prevent fraying. Holes along vertical edges where fabric was tacked to frame to be tight for stitching.
Wood paddle with handle/ grip (5 ins. long) that widens to a 16.5-inch length, flat on one side, slightly rounded on the other. The flat end is rounded.This scutching tool is used to break the outer layer to release flax fibers.
Paper label on paddle (in ink in PA German) "schwinkmesse(r) for flax gubrechen von Johann Sauder ? 1855"
Translation: "Scutching knife for breaking flax."

Comb mounted on wooden board with 1/2-inch holes, 3 inches from each end and 1/8-inch holes 1.75" beyond larger holes (5.5 inches from ends). These holes are centered between side edges. Attached to top in center is a 7/5" x 4.5" x .5" piece of wood covered with a metal sheet fastened with tacks on all 4 sides. Large tacks on all 4 corners & 4 tacks from underside attach comb to board. 173 2-inch metal prongs form comb. Plant fibers still between some prongs.
PaGerman = 'die Hackel" (Stine, p. 281) 'Hackle" means combing flax to take out the tow.

Child's thimble of non-ferrous metal classic form with domed top. Dimpled exterior with plain and textured bands above base. Marked "2" on plain band near base.
Note inside reads: "Used by 3 yr old Alice Reynolds Ehler deceased child of Charles and Laura Ehler Lancaster Penna."
Charles Leland Ehler (3-6-1858 to 3-5-1904) is buried in Woodward Hill Cemetery and his wife is "calculated" to be Laura B. Trout Ehler, born 1859, according to Findagrave.com. Charles is listed as a bookkeeper in various City Directories. Found no evidence of progeny.
Tatting shuttle of mother of pearl, loaded with white thread. End of thread has two tatted rings. Tatting shuttle is torpedo shape with two thin plates of mother of pearl shell positioned 1/8" apart and held in place with two iron rivets. Exterior of both plates have engraved checkerboard pattern except for sprig of flower within a central circle and two bordering bands at perimeter, one a chain of dots and alongside is a running cable pattern. Two drilled holes at each end of each plate with unknown purpose.
Paper label accompanies shuttle with "TATTING SHUTTLE" written in ink in a caligraphic hand.
Some soil on mother of pearl. Several small nicks on edge. LIght scratches on engraved surfaces, some created at time of manufacture when rivets were smoothed.
Pair of knitting needles (A & B) made of hand-carved hardwood, perhaps hickory. Both are gently curved throughout length, with B having a stronger curve. Pointed at one end and a crudely and abruptly carved enlargement at other end. No apparent finish, although slight polish from use.
