Summary: A fictional story that follows 12-year-old Lancaster resident Andy Grove through the summer of 1912, when he lived with his grandparents in McSparran. The youth gets a job carrying water for a track-laying gang on the railroad.(The railroad of the story did in real life exist in southern Lancaster County. It was a narrow gauge railroad that ran between Peach Bottom and Oxford.)
