Describes Ettwein's role in the Moravians' state of neutrality during the Revolutionary War. A hospital was set up in Bethlehem--eventually transferred to Lititz, Lancaster County. He presented a memorial advocating the Moravians' opposition to the War at the meeting of the Pennsylvania Assembly in Lancaster. The ending of the war found Moravians and Colonists working together.
