Special orders for Brigadier General Thomas Welsh to report to duty
Description
Handwritten special orders on letterhead from the Headquarters of the Army, Adjutant General's Office. Orders state that Welsh is to report for duty to Major General Burnside, Department of the Ohio, in Cincinnati following his return from his leave of absence. Orders are by command of Major General Halleck, signed by E. D. Townsend, Assistant Adjutant General.

Lockard as a result of disease contracted during the Vicksburg campaign and the pursuit of General Johnston. Article recounts his military career, that he always served with distinction, and notes that he will be buried in Columbia, Lancaster County.
