Henry to Mary Hagner Nicholson saying he delayed going to Captain Ingraham’s to await her letter, but it did not come; the delay in the mails resulting an missed an event at Miss McKim’s; he is happy that she is surrounded by friends; offering advice in getting over a “little affair” which will disappear if they love each other; Mr. Scharff was married at noon and James Buchanan Henry is very happy for his dear friend; will go to the farewell reception of the Napiers and later to a ball given by Mrs. Brown; sends regards to Miss Margie and apologizes for not receiving her invitation on time; and Dr. Dau.
