Contains 335 book leaves, paginated and ruled plus a 23 page alphabetical index, plus 3 front leaves (The first front leaf is blank, The second front leaf has a list of products. The third front leaf has part of the A index.), plus 3 end leaves. (The first end leaf are pages 689 and 690 of the book. The second end leaf is torn in half and is blank. The last end leaf is blank on the front and has "Robt Baldwin"; "list of vacant pages" and a row of page numbers written on the back.)
Front inside cover has account information.
Book spine is embossed with "Ledger".
Insert 1 - Blue donor card.
Insert 2 - 4 loose items:

1830 - Robert Baldwin and John Cains opened a store in Cains.
1843 - Robert Baldwin built his store and home on the corner of Cains Road and the Old Philadelphia Pike.
1849 - Robert Baldwin was elected to the State Legislature.

Book is intact. Cover has red rot and cut marks on front and back covers. Binding shows minor separation from spine. Foxing on most pages, index tab F-G is missing, second page is not attached and second last page is missing top part. There is also the imprint of the vegetation found in insert 2 on some pages, see pp. 159-160 and pp. 299-296.

Description
This book records the financial business of Daniel Lefever of Drumore Township from 1844 to 1845. The book is 558 pages and includes a partial index at front, names of customers and records of sales of produce, lime, wood and other goods. Ephemera found in the account book includes a small amount of genealogical notes about Daniel Lefever, a note to Daniel Lefever from A. S. Irving regarding the purchase of lime in 1845, and the administrators' account of Robert M. Dunn of Drumore Township in 1858.
Admin/Biographical History
Daniel Lefever was born near Lampeter Square in 1805, the son of John Lefever and Elizabeth Keeports. The family moved to Drumore Township when Daniel was a boy and he later purchased a portion of his father's farm and became one of the most successful farmers in the southern part of the county. Lefever began to engage in the lime burning business in the 1830s in addition to farming. He married twice - first to Elizabeth Lefever and then to Susan Swinehart. His son Galen I. Lefever would later take over his father's business.

Andrew B. Rote Collection
Description
The Andrew B. Rote Collection contains the business records of C. V. Rote & Co., which later became A. B. Rote & Co., and some family records. The Lancaster company specialized in awnings and ironwork. Deeds, mortgages, and other property records are for property owned by the Rotes and used for their business. The record books of the company, 1881-1942, show accounting, clients, cash flow, bids, and inventory. A catalog of architectural bronze and iron works illustrates their products. There are also stock certificates for a number of local and regional businesses such as Farmers Trust Company, Union Trust Company, and Meadia Heights Golf Club.
Admin/Biographical History
C. V. Rote & Company was founded by Charles V. Rote, Jacob F. Bender, and John W. Holman on 3 March 1881, specifically for the manufacture of awnings. Bender and Holman provided the financing, space for the shop, the time they could commit, and the use of their horse and buggy. Rote committed his labor and time in manufacturing the awnings. Their initial success continued when they added architectural bronze and iron work. Andrew B. Rote took over the business in 1894, which was then located at 111-117 E. Chestnut Street, Lancaster.
