Letter from Harriet Lane to Lily Macalester asking her pardon for not writing earlier; Mrs. Plitt still at Wheatland; Uncle well and calm as he awaits the outcome of the election today; wishing Lily had written more as a political writer; Robert Eden’s former dark red moustache; Eskridge getting along well using a crutch and cane; the toll that the campaign took on the family; in the election “right will prevail”; Emily Schaumburg’s staying with the Porters; Colonel Pleasonton’s engagement to a widow with many children and Addy’s reaction; and suggests that Lily’s father might follow the same example to give Lily some children to play with. Act to confirm election of trustees of the Second Presbyterian Church signed by Pennsylvania’s Speaker of the House of Representatives, Henry K. Strong, Speaker of the Senate, William Mulhenberg Hiester and Governor, James Pollock . An act to confirm and legalize the election of trustees of the Second Presbyterian Congregation of the City of Lancaster signed by Henry K. Strong, Speaker of the House of Representatives, William M. Hiester, Speaker of the Senate, and James Pollock, Governor, and certified by John M. Sullivan, Deputy Secretary of the Commonwealth confirming the election of several trustees after failing to do so according to the charter of the church. This act upholds the action of the Golden seal with red ribbon on last page. Lancaster, PA.
