The Fulton Opera House Collection contains programs, tickets, and schedules for public performances and events at the Fulton Opera House in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The programs list cast members and celebrities, as well as advertising for businesses and sponsoring organizations. The collection also includes a booklet from the theatre's centenary celebration in 1952 and items related to the Landmark Campaign to restore and renovate the theatre in 1995.
This collection contains Thomas Baker's three surveying books which document land and property ownership in southern Lancaster County, primarily Colerain Township from 1856-1902. Octorara Creek, Kirkwood, Christiana and Upper Oxford Twp. are among the place names.
Admin/Biographical History
Thomas Baker traces his ancestry back to Sir Richard Baker (1568), born in the county of Kent, England. In 1685, seven generations before Thomas Baker was born, Joseph Baker immigrated to Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Born in Chatham, Chester County to Lewis and Diana Baker, Thomas was well-educated; a teacher until 1840, when he commenced the study of surveying. Land surveying is the location of points on, above and below the surface of the earth and the relation of those points to a common reference system. Employed at Jonathon Goss, at Unionville Academy in Chester, he surveyed over 650 farms in Lancaster County's Colerain Township. He married in 1855; his family adhering to his Quaker faith. The Biographical Annals in Lancaster, published in 1903, describes Baker as "…a man esteemed by his neighbors for his many good qualities and excellent character, and in disposition he is a man of warm heart and kindly feeling."
The Card Collection contains advertising cards for businesses throughout Lancaster County, greeting cards, invitations, membership cards, and visiting cards. The occasions represented by the greeting cards include Valentine's Day, Christmas, New Year's, Easter, birthday, and anniversary cards.

The Naturalization Day Collection contains programs for Naturalization Day banquets. Most programs list names of new citizens; some programs include place of nativity for each person.

Naturalization is the process of applying for U.S. citizenship for those who are over 18 and were born outside of the United States. Once the Application for Naturalization has been approved and the applicants have passed the U.S. citizenship interview, applicants must recite the Oath of Allegiance to the United States in order to become fully naturalized U.S. citizens.

The Hood and Lockwood Family Papers contain a certificate for Bernarda Black's honorary membership in the Lincoln Farm Association, dated 19 June 1907, a copy of her obituary from the Lancaster News-Journal, 2 April 1924, miscellaneous papers and memoranda written by Alexander Hood and his father Frederick Hood, letters written to Annie Lockwood Cochran, daughter of George Lockwood and Catharine Hood, and correspondence and documents relating to the Civil War pension of Thomas Tillbrook, husband of Emma Hood Lockwood.

The Hon. Alexander H. Hood was a noted attorney in Lancaster. His daughter, Bernarda, married A. Ross Black, and lived in Strasburg, Lancaster County.
Annie Lockwood Cochran was the daughter of Geroge Lockwood and Catharine Hood Lockwood and wife of David Cochran.

Ada M. Cochran and Bertha Cochran Landis Collection
Description
The Ada M. Cochran and Bertha Cochran Landis Collection contains letters written to Ada M. Cochran, 642 West Chestnut Street from Lizzie Brubaker, Annie Brubaker and Clarence Brubaker of Warwick Township, between 1905 and 1907, as well as reward of merit cards for Bertha Cochran and religious tracts.

Ada M. Cochran (b. 1874, d. 1946) lived at 642 West Chestnut Street with her sister, Bertha Cochran Landis, and worked as a school teacher in the city of Lancaster. Elizabeth "Lizzie" Brubaker was the daughter of Harry H. and Fannie Brubaker of Lexington, Warwick Twp.

This collection contains documents beginning with the American Revolution and continuing through the War of 1812, Mexican War, Civil War, World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. There are account books, notes and written letters, vouchers, inspections of camps, receipts of payments, honorable discharge certificates, lists of absentees, envelopes used during the Civil War, and lists of unpaid fines during the service of the Pennsylvania Militia soldiers. There are also newsletters and articles relating to World Wars I and II and the Korean War for advertisement and description of items including the history of the Philadelphia Naval Base.

NOTE: This is a combination Account and Day Book. The first part is an account book and the back part is a day book.
Contains 249 leaves plus an 22 page index. Covers are marbleized inside. The 1st leaf has accounting information written on it and the second leaf is blank. There are 2 separate paginations: The front pagination (pp. 1-390) is a listing of accounts of various customers. The back pagination (pp. 1-112 + 3 additional leaves and the first 2 leaves are p. 1) is a day book of daily transactions.
Book references to cash paid on accounts, purchase of sundries, whisky, tobacco, butter, Cheese, apples, beef, bacon, wool, calico, leather, cattle, coffee, fur hat, molasses, etc.
Three newspaper articles are glued to front leaves 2 and 3: Recipes for Raspberry Syrup, Blackberry Syrup, Current wine, White Wine, Elder Wine, Black Current Wine and Current Jelly; Acceptance letters of July 1850 Whig Candidates from Bucks County, and Selins Grove (sic), and Washington, Pa.
Insert 1 - Blue donor card.
Insert 2 - Four pieces of paper that were inserted between pages with miscellaneous writing, one with Robt. Baldwin signature, one with reference to William Ross and one with name Mr. Thomas.

Robert Baldwin (1805-1888)
1827 - Robert Baldwin, school teacher came to Cains to reside at The Bull's Head.
1830 - Robert Baldwin and John Cains opened a store in Cains.
1843 - Robert Baldwin built his store and home on the corner of Cains Road and the Old Philadelphia Pike.
1849 - Robert Baldwin was elected to the State Legislature.
Book covers are worn, have red rot but are intact; two index tabs P-Q and R-S are missing. Pages have foxing. 15 leaves have been cut out or torn out: (pp. 4-5), (pp.18-27) and (pp.84-105).
The front third leaf is unattached.
