American Rococo Revival Walnut Sofa. The serpentine back centered by a rose and shell scrolled carved crest, the back joined to closed arms, with a serpentine apron and raised on cabriole legs terminating in casters, silk velvet upholstery.
Oblong shaped walnut veneered container with a back-hinged lid, beveled shape raised central flat area carved with egg-bead molding. Brass 8-point star bail handles are on each end; one handle missing. Brass round keyhole escutcheon is centered on the top front façade of the box with egg & bead molding around the base surmounting four flat-bun shaped feet. Interior features two boxes with back hinged lids as storage compartments for tea leaves. In the center is a circular aperture lined with felt holding a star cut glass mixing bowl to blend tea leaves.

Includes newspaper advertisement of the property and a drawing of the property lying between East Orange Street and a public alley, bordered on property of Mr. Musselman and Mr. Thomas. Three versions of Harriet Lane Johnston’s immediate distribution from James Buchanan’s will:
(1) Judge Black’s version, with Mrs. Johnston receiving $14,605.33 in cash,
(2) Mrs. Johnston’s version, with her receiving, in addition to the valuation of Wheatland, $18,605.33 in cash, and
(3) the version of the executors, E. Y. Buchanan and J. B. Henry, with, after the subtraction of $12,000 for the valuation of Wheatland, Mrs. Johnston receiving $6,605.33 in cash. Lancaster.

Swarr enumerating expenses on behalf of the estate amounting to about $47 and noting that his travel since January 1st has been on a railroad pass without expense to the estate; hoping that Swarr arrived safely home on Saturday and that Alice was decidedly in luck; asking for six additional impressions of the photograph of Wheatland for his family; and announcing plans to come to Lancaster on Thursday.
