Henry recounting his conversation with the secretary of the cemetery company where James Buchanan Henry’s father and sister are buried informing him that no more interments will be made in the old cemetery and that the tombstones of his father and sister are “their condition is any worse than any of the others”; wonders if Reg has joined the Catholic Church; that Rob has returned to barracks after camp; and will send a picture of his camp a little later. Henry reporting that he is temporarily in Pittsburgh running large department; misses the rural aspects of Greensburg and hates the heat and dirt of the city; is sorry about Rob’s hard luck; Reg sent him news from Lake George, which he would like to be there later when the family goes on its launch, but will be working; at least he will go camping at Conneaut Lake with his regiment. Envelope with postmarks and imprint of a stamp addressed to Mr. J. Buchanan Henry, Maryland Hotel, Annapolis, Maryland; in another hand: Willy on is removal with regrets from Greensburg to Pittsburg. Henry expressing sorrow over Mrs. Magruder’s accident; Louisa is gaining strength and the baby [William] is doing well; Mrs. Pennelt paid a visit; Elizabeth is not good at finding a nurse because she sent a 19-year-old girl from another country who had been with Mrs. Outerbridge; doesn’t want to hire a woman who will leave after a brief time; asks him to find a woman in Annapolis and she wouldn’t mind “a nice looking light-colored woman” but not “a great big black woman.” Envelope edged in black with postmark addressed to James Buchanan Henry, Esq. Henry saying that he cannot take part in any more land deals at the moment and thinks little of Greenfield and Kapff; asks after Rob, Will, and Sid; sorry to hear of Randy Hagner’s accident with a gun; telegrams about war with Spain appear in the paper but nothing is definite or authentic; the spring weather is cold, windy, and rainy; and cites the mail dates and always appreciates his mail. Envelope with postmarks and torn where stamp was addressed to J. Buchanan Henry, forwarded from Hotel Maryland, Annapolis, Maryland, United States of America to a hotel in Washington, D.C.
