Letter of introduction from James Buchanan for Michael G. Dale, Esq. of Lancaster City. Buchanan explains that he has known Mr. Dale since he was a boy, and that his father, the Honorable Samuel Dale, is “of the highest respectability and worth.” Mr. Dale has proposed to find residence in the western states and has recently been admitted to the bar to practice law. 28 March 1838.

Letter from James Buchanan to Thomas Kittera, Esq., informing him of his letter to Governor Wolf (copy enclosed) recommending him for the position of President of the District Court of Philadelphia and that he regrets the conflict between the governor and W. Muhlenberg; he thought of writing to W. Buchler but decided to “go to the fountainhead.” Lancaster.
