Letter from James Buchanan to Elliott Eskridge Lane
Description
Letter from James Buchanan to Eskridge Lane grieving over the death of Harriet’s sister, Mary; continuing his dislike of his position and the London weather; determining to remain abroad until the nominating convention and not to interfere in the Senatorial campaign even though Glancy Jones might be a candidate; and thinking James Henry’s decision to take a steamer to Europe foolish. Legation of the United States.

Letter from E. Y. Buchanan to H. B.
