Rifle with flint lock (now percussion), full stock of curly maple, brass mountings, and octagonal barrel marked C. Beck in script letters on the top facet of the barrel. C. Beck was a contemporary of J.P. Beck and N. Beyer, all of whom worked in the same area. Their carved patterns have elements in common and the patch box on this gun was used by both C. & J.P. Beck. This patch box is not engraved but a few are known that are engraved.
Original flintlock rifles from Sam Dyke's collection. Makers, from top to bottom: J. P. Beck, Peter Berry, N. Beyer, H. Mauger, unmarked, Adam Angstadt.
