Unusual but delicious, funnel cake is a Pennsylvania Dutch food specialty to be enjoyed in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Flour, sugar and eggs are used to create a sweetened batter which is pured from a funnel-pitcher into a skillet of hotoil in a swirled pattern. The resulting "squiggly donut" is duested with confectioner's sugar and served warm.

Schnitz are dried apple slices often eaten as snacks or asan ingredient in schnitz and knepp, a main dish.

Shoofly pie is among the most popular Pennsylvania Dutch desserts served in Lancaster County, PA. Although no one really knows were the name originated, "shoofly pie" was probably first created by German immigrant housewived who innovatively used the ingredients which would have survived the long voyage from Europe. - flour, molasses, shortening, brown sugar and spices.
