Letter from James Buchanan to James B. Lane, Esq. praising his appraising of some matting and for acting wisely in not buying Buchanan’s house at this time because of taking too much capital, but Buchanan will not offer it for sale publicly. Written on the blank page is James B. Lane’s reply stating that he does not wish to board but will do so until circumstances improve. He will inform Mr. Meredith that all he wants from the furniture at Wheatland is the matting. On the same stationery is a copy of James Lane’s reply from Lancaster, stating that he wants to exchange housekeeping for a property of his own and that Mr. Fortney wishes Buchanan to inform Mr. Meredith that he will not want any furniture from Wheatland except the matting. Postcard of a chef preparing food at the Stevens House, Lancaster. Historic English Dining room has not only excellent food but also many interesting pictures and mementos on the walls. Recommended by Duncan Hines for both rooms and food, the Stevens House in Lancaster, Pennsylvania is centrally located and on Routes 30, 72, 222 and 230.
This is the most enjoyable Saturday night treat in Lancaster. Look at the delicious roast beef which is specially prepared by nationally famous Chef Means. And his excellent roast duckling dinner is available, too! Free parking duirng dinner. Cordially, The Shoemakers.
